UVC DISINFECTION AND ODOR ELIMINATION: PHOTOCATALYTIC OXIDATION
In addition to UV-C disinfection, the principle of photocatalytic oxidation can be used to reduce odors:
UV-A light is used to excite a titanium dioxide (TiO2) catalyst. This produces hydroxyl radicals.
The hydroxyl radicals attach themselves to volatile organic compounds and react with them.
As a result, the volatile organic compounds are broken down into harmless components such as water and carbon dioxide.
As a result, this supplementary technology can reduce odor pollution.
